Two men have been arrested in connection with drug trafficking involving a child, police said.
According to the Maldives Police Service, the arrests were made during a special operation carried out on Sunday, in which 10 individuals were detained.
Police identified two of the suspects as Hassan Nuaaz, 28, of M. Naazlimanzil, and Ahmed Naeem, 39, of V. Satellite.
Police said a 16-year-old boy was used to transport drugs from one location to another.
In a statement, police said they give priority to taking action against individuals who groom children and exploit them to engage in drug-related activities, gang crimes, and sexual offences. Police also said efforts are being made with relevant authorities to identify those involved in such acts and to pursue legal action under the law.
