Maldives to mark Eid al-Fitr on Friday
Saudi Arabia has also announced that Thursday will be the 30th day of Ramadan and that Eid will be observed on Friday.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced that Thursday will be the 30th day of Ramadan and that Eid al-Fitr will be observed on Friday.
The announcement was made during the moon sighting confirmation held at the ministry on Wednesday night.
In a statement, the ministry said no country had reported sighting the Shawwal moon on Wednesday. As a result, Thursday has been declared the final day of Ramadan.
The ministry said Eid al-Fitr will be observed on Friday, 20 March.
The date is also reflected in the official calendar for this year.
