President says Ramadan teaches discipline, unity in Eid message
He referred to the situation in parts of the Muslim world, and called for prayers for peace and safety.
President Mohamed Muizzu on Thursday said the month of Ramadan has provided lessons on conduct, discipline and unity, in a message marking Eid al-Fitr.
In his message, issued on the occasion marking the end of Ramadan, the President described the month as a period of learning for both conduct and practice.
“The departing month of Ramadan has left us after providing training for our souls and our bodies. To speak nothing but good words with our tongues. To perform nothing but good deeds with our limbs. To encourage Muslims to remain united as one community, rather than being divided,” he said.
He added that Ramadan also teaches patience and consistency in conduct.
The President said Eid al-Fitr marks the completion of fasting and is a time for reflection following the observance of the month.
“Eid has arrived with the hope that we have fulfilled that worship. It comes with the confidence that Allah has granted forgiveness and reward within that month,” he said.
He noted that Eid is a time to celebrate within the framework of Islamic teachings and urged the public to observe the occasion in line with religious principles.
The President also called on people to continue good practices after Ramadan and remain committed to their conduct.
In his message, he referred to the situation in parts of the Muslim world, including Palestine and other countries in the Middle East, and called for prayers for peace and safety.
“Since the example of the believers is that of a single body, we share in this pain. We pray for peace and safety for those affected,” he said.
