On the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, president Dr Mohammed Muizzu said that his most important appeal to Maldivians is to always remember the many blessings given by God.
In his public address on the occasion of Eid, the President urged the people to celebrate Eid with Islamic principles. He also urged the people not to mix foreign traditions that are alien to Islamic morality and the beautiful customs of the people.
The President said:
-
Eid is a happy occasion where many people visit many islands in Maldives. Therefore, he called on the people to maintain the customary respect and dignity practised since the time of our ancestors
-
He also called on all the islands and families therein to speak kindly to one another, and to keep alive the fine principles of kindness and humanity
"We should tell our children that the Eid lights, celebrations, salutations, prayers, revival of the social spirit and the Eid games are evidence of the perfection of Islam," he said.
"On every such occasion, I would like to ask you to teach your children to be proud of Islam and Maldivian identity and to pay special attention to inculcate children in Islamic morals”.
The President's also asked the people of Maldives to keep the Palestinian people close to heart.
