The Ministry of Transport has announced vehicle movement restrictions in Malé from Friday to Sunday in relation to this year’s Independence Day activities.
According to the Ministry, the curfew on vehicular movement is intended to support the conduct of official events, enhance road safety and security, and reduce congestion during the celebrations.
The following restrictions have been outlined:

On Friday, C0, C2, D, E, and V category vehicles will be prohibited from operating between 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

On Saturday, the same categories of vehicles will be restricted between 6:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m.

On Friday, all categories of road vehicles will be prohibited from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Exceptions will apply to motorised vehicles operated by security forces, ambulances, and public transport buses.
The Ministry stated that any individual operating a vehicle in violation of these restrictions will face action under the Road Traffic Act.
