Police have reported that 47 vehicles were towed and 18 drivers fined over the past two days in Hulhumalé as part of an operation to address illegal parking and unsafe driving.
According to data released on Friday, the towing operations were carried out between Thursday and Friday. Police said the vehicles were removed for being parked in ways that obstructed public traffic and pedestrian movement.
A total of 47 vehicles were towed, comprising 46 motorcycles and one car.
Breakdown of the offences shows that:

Illegal parking: 36 motorcycles towed

Driving without a licence: 8 motorcycles towed

Dangerous driving: 1 motorcycle towed

Other offences: 1 car and 1 motorcycle towed
In addition, 18 fines were issued during the two-day period, including 16 for motorcycles and 2 for cars.
