Police said on Friday that vehicles parked in violation of regulations will be towed from Monday.
In a statement, the Maldives Police Service said that action will be taken not only against illegally parked vehicles, but also against unregistered vehicles and vehicles registered in zones other than Zone A.
Police instructed owners to remove such vehicles before 11:30 pm on Sunday.
“Vehicles parked after this time will be towed to a location designated by the Maldives Police Service,” the statement said.
Police also said the service will not be responsible for any damage that may occur during the towing process or while vehicles are kept at the designated location. Vehicle owners will be responsible for collecting their vehicles after towing.
