MVR 6,000 per person distributed under Fitr Zakat

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs said more than MVR 14 million has been collected as Fitr Zakat this year, with MVR 6,000 distributed per person.
In a statement published on its website on Thursday, the ministry said the funds were distributed to individuals registered under the categories of poor and needy.
The ministry said a total of MVR 13.8 million has been allocated for distribution.
According to the ministry, the distribution covered all individuals listed in the official register of eligible recipients.
The ministry also said 62 orphans classified under eligible categories were included among those who received the zakat.
