MVR 500,000 from Fitr Zakat allocated for Gaza aid

A total of MVR 500,000 from this year’s Fitr Zakat collections has been allocated to provide food assistance to people in Gaza.
The Maldives Zakat House said MVR 15.7 million was collected this year, marking the highest total recorded. The Ministry of Islamic Affairs said the distribution process has been completed, with each registered recipient receiving MVR 6,000.
According to the ministry, MVR 13.8 million was distributed among individuals registered under categories of need.
The Zakat House said MVR 500,000 has been handed over to the Isra Association to facilitate the delivery of food assistance in Gaza.
The Isra Association is a local organisation engaged in humanitarian work related to Palestine and Gaza.
In addition to the allocation for Gaza, MVR 423,749 has been contributed to the Social Ministry’s Social Trust Fund to support welfare programmes in the Maldives and assist individuals facing financial difficulties.
