MTCC awarded Hoarafushi road project

The government on Thursday awarded a contract to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) to develop roads in HA. Hoarafushi, with two weeks remaining before the local council elections.
The Ministry of Construction announced in a post on X that the project is the third phase of road development in Hoarafushi.
The agreement was signed by Permanent Secretary Mohamed Shamil on behalf of the ministry and MTCC Deputy Chief Operating Officer Hassan Naufal on behalf of the company.
The signing ceremony was attended by Hoarafushi constituency MP Ali Moosa.
The ministry has not disclosed the cost, duration or further details of the project.
This is the fourth agreement signed by the ministry this month. Earlier agreements include projects for the development of the Malé wet market, GDh. Faresmaathoda harbour and GDh. Madaveli land reclamation.
The government has previously signed development agreements ahead of elections. Some of those projects have not yet commenced.
The previous administration also signed development projects during election periods.
