Customs seize vape cartridges in sea smuggling bid
Since the government imposed the ban in late 2024, authorities have seized vape products and cigarettes in attempts to smuggle them into the country.
Customs has seized more than 1,900 vape cartridges that were being smuggled into the country by sea.
The items, which are banned from import into Maldives, were seized at the commercial port of Male’, Customs said on Monday. The case is under investigation.

Fines have been imposed on several individuals in recent cases.
Home Minister Ali Ihsan said last month that 2 million cigarettes and 7,000 vape sticks had been seized over the past six months.
