A 23-year-old man undergoing treatment for dengue fever has died on Monday.
Ahmed Nabhaan Mohamed from Sh. Milandhoo first sought treatment at a local health centre. He was later transferred to Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital as his condition worsened.
He was subsequently transported to Malé for further treatment and was admitted to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital. He died while receiving treatment on a ventilator.
According to the Health Protection Agency Maldives, there has been an increase in mosquito-borne diseases. A total of 535 dengue cases were reported last month, compared to 60 cases during the same period last year.
