Man held over sale of child abuse videos via crypto
The arrest followed an investigation into a tip-off that he was using a Binance exchange wallet address to buy and sell child sexual abuse material.
A man has been arrested for the alleged sale of photos and videos of child sexual abuse through cryptocurrency.
Police said a 28-year-old man, identified as Adam Azlan Latheef of Moonimage, Th. Vilufushi, was arrested on the 5th of this month. He was remanded in custody for 15 days. The remand period is due to expire tomorrow.
According to police, the arrest followed an investigation into a tip-off that he was using a Binance exchange wallet address to buy and sell child sexual abuse material. Police said the wallet was used to transfer funds to his cryptocurrency account.
Forensic analysis of electronic devices seized during the investigation identified multiple photos and videos containing child sexual abuse material. Police also reported the presence of video content depicting such material.
The Police Family and Child Protection unit is conducting further investigations.
