Warning issued over unregistered medical college ads
In a statement, the Ministry said that an institution operating under the name SAS Medical College has come to attention.
The Ministry of Education has warned students to remain alert to advertisements promoting admission to medical colleges in Maldives that are not registered.
In a statement, the Ministry said Wednesday that an institution operating under the name SAS Medical College has come to attention.
The Ministry stated that the institution is not registered under the Higher Education and Training Act of Maldives. It added that it is an offence for any individual or organisation to present itself as a university, college, or institute without registration.
The public has been advised to exercise caution regarding such promotions.
According to the Ministry, the institution’s website advertises courses that claim to enable completion of a doctorate. The website indicates that programmes leading to an MBBS qualification are available within three and five years.
An image of the institution has also been circulated. However, the location of the premises has not been identified. Authorities believe the image may have been generated using artificial intelligence.
