Immigration deputy Ashfan transferred to youth ministry
Ashfan was appointed Deputy Controller of Maldives Immigration in April 2024 after serving as an immigration officer for 18 years.
Ahmed Ashfan, Deputy Controller of Immigration, has been appointed as Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts.
The President’s Office confirmed the transfer on Thursday.
Ashfan was appointed Deputy Controller of Maldives Immigration in April 2024 after serving as an immigration officer for 18 years.
Following his reassignment, Maldives Immigration issued a statement acknowledging his service and contributions to the department.
Ashfan is a former national football player and the brother of Ali Ashfaq.
The appointment comes amid administrative changes by the government following the recent local council elections. As part of these changes, President Mohamed Muizzu has reduced the number of cabinet ministers and reassigned portfolios.
