The decision to initiate the removal process was taken on Wednesday by the parliamentary group of the People’s National Congress.
The Parliament Secretariat confirmed on Thursday that it had received the resolution. The Secretariat said the matter would be processed in accordance with the Constitution and the Standing Orders of Parliament.
The move follows reports that President Mohamed Muizzu recently removed Nazim from a WhatsApp group used to coordinate directives with government-aligned members of parliament.
No official reason has been provided for the action.
According to information circulating within political circles, discussions regarding Nazim’s removal were linked to allegations that he had acted against the interests of the administration within parliament.
Under parliamentary procedures, the Secretary-General is required to issue formal notice of the no-confidence motion within three days of receiving the resolution.
