HPA urges public vigilance following increase in measles cases
The agency stated that six of the nine confirmed cases this year were detected during the current month.

The Health Protection Agency has confirmed two additional cases of measles, bringing the total number of reported cases in the Maldives this year to nine.
Although the Maldives had previously achieved measles elimination status, new cases began emerging in the Greater Malé region earlier this month.
According to the HPA, five cases are currently under investigation, with 128 identified contacts being monitored in connection with those cases.
The agency stated that six of the nine confirmed cases this year were detected during the current month.
The HPA noted that the continued spread of measles in neighbouring countries and other parts of the world increases the risk of further cases.
The agency urged members of the public to seek medical attention immediately if they develop symptoms such as fever accompanied by red rashes.
The HPA also advised individuals suspected of having measles to remain in isolation until test results are confirmed and to avoid attending public gatherings while symptomatic.
