Child stable after falling from second floor, police say

A police media official told local media that the child was transferred to Malé on Friday night and examined at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

An 11-year-old child who fell from the second floor of a building on an island in the central Maldives is in stable condition and has not sustained any visible external injuries, according to police.

The Maldives Police Service said the incident occurred on Saturday. As the case involves a minor, authorities did not disclose the identity of the child or the island where the incident took place.

A police media official told local media that the child was transferred to Malé on Friday night and examined at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

“Information was received that there are no visible external injuries. Furthermore, the child is doing very well,” the official said.

Police have not released further details regarding the circumstances of the fall.

The child remains under medical observation following the examination in Malé.
