Mohamed Firzul Abdullah Khaleel was appointed Managing Director of the Maldives Hajj Corporation on Wednesday.
Firzul succeeds Mohamed Shakeel, who vacated the post after being appointed as a member of the Elections Commission.
Before his appointment, Firzul served as Undersecretary for Public Policy at the President's Office.
He also serves as the spokesperson for the ruling People's National Congress (PNC).
During the transition to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's administration, Firzul was the official spokesperson for the President's transition office.
The appointment follows changes in the leadership of the Maldives Hajj Corporation after Shakeel's move to the Elections Commission.
