Cargo boat reported sinking 5 nautical miles off Felidhoo
The MNDF has advised mariners travelling through the area to exercise caution, particularly when navigating at night, due to the drifting cargo.
A cargo vessel has begun taking on water and is reported to be sinking approximately five nautical miles off V. Felidhoo, according to the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).
The vessel, identified as Jazeera Q-10, was reported to be in distress on Thursday.
The MNDF said a vessel from the Coast Guard's Malé Area Command, Second Squadron, has been dispatched to the location.
Authorities have not yet confirmed how many people were on board or the quantity of cargo being carried by the vessel.
According to the MNDF, cargo from the vessel is drifting eastwards from the area where the incident occurred.
