Boat that fled Malé collision found in Hulhumalé lagoon
The collision occurred on the night of 9 July near the Izzudheen Jetty area and caused damage to the speedboat Legion-1.
A boat that fled after colliding with a speedboat near Malé last month has been found anchored in the Hulhumalé lagoon about six weeks after the incident, police said on Monday.
The collision occurred on the night of 9 July near the Izzudheen Jetty area and caused damage to the speedboat Legion-1.
Five people on board Legion-1 were injured in the collision and taken to hospital for treatment.
The other vessel left the area following the collision without stopping, prompting police to launch an investigation and search for the boat.
Police said on Monday night that the vessel was found anchored in the Hulhumalé lagoon on Saturday.
As part of the investigation, police questioned the captain of the vessel and suspended his licence.
Police did not disclose further information about the vessel, its ownership or the captain.
The case remains under investigation, police said.
