NDMA allocated land in Hulhumalé for headquarters, emergency facilities
NDMA said the facilities would increase its capacity to respond to disasters and emergencies across the Maldives and improve the services it provides.
The government has allocated a 13,574-square-foot plot in Hulhumalé Phase 2 to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) for its headquarters and facilities to support disaster response.
The authority said the land had been handed over to provide a permanent site for expanding its operations. It did not specify the plot’s location within Phase 2.
Plans for the site include the authority’s headquarters, an emergency operations centre, a warehouse for storing disaster relief supplies and a facility providing temporary shelter for people affected by emergencies.
NDMA said the facilities would increase its capacity to respond to disasters and emergencies across the Maldives and improve the services it provides to the public.
The authority currently operates from Rihijehi Koshi on Ameenee Magu in Malé.
