Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) has terminated the tenancy agreements of two flats in Aman Towers over unpaid rent and instructed the occupants to vacate the properties within 15 days.

In a statement, FDC said the decision was taken in accordance with the terms of the tenancy agreements signed with recipients of housing units allocated under the government's 4,000-unit housing project.

The agreements, signed between FDC and the flat recipients before the handover of the housing units, require tenants to pay their rent regularly.

According to FDC, the two tenants were given 135 days to settle their outstanding payments before the corporation proceeded with terminating their agreements.

During this period, FDC issued payment reminders and provided the required 30-day notice before termination.

The notices were delivered through the Fahi Portal, SMS, email and written correspondence.

FDC said the tenants failed to settle their outstanding rent despite being given sufficient time and opportunities to fulfil their contractual obligations.

As a result, the corporation terminated the agreements and instructed the occupants to vacate and hand over their respective housing units within 15 days of receiving the termination notices.

Access to the FDC portal provided to the two flat recipients has also been revoked.

FDC said the measures were taken to enforce the terms of the tenancy agreements and ensure that the same standards are applied to all tenants.

"The measures outlined above are intended to uphold the terms of the agreements and ensure they are enforced fairly and equally for all parties," the corporation said in its statement.

FDC added that it would continue to prioritise transparency and fairness in the management of housing units, including providing tenants with adequate notice and opportunities to meet their obligations before enforcement action is taken.
