President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will attend the funeral of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II, his spokesperson announced Tuesday.
Queen Elizabeth, Britain's longest-reigning monarch and the nation's figurehead for seven decades, died aged 96 on Thursday. Her eldest son Charles, 73, automatically becomes king of the United Kingdom and the head of state of 14 other realms including Australia, Canada and New Zealand.
Presidential spokesperson Miuvan Mohamed told Atoll Times that the president has accepted an official invitation to attend the Queen Elizabeth's state funeral in the UK. He, however, did not disclose any details.

Meanwhile, President Solih on Thursday declared three days of national mourning following the passing of Queen Elizabeth. The Maldivian flag was flown at half mast during the three days of national mourning.
