Male City Council's spokesperson Mariam Shiuna's Twitter account has been suspended, after she called for the removal of president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's government even if it cost a bloodbath.
Shiuna called for this ‘bloodbath’ in a tweet on Thursday. However, later, she deleted the tweet.
It is not clear why exactly or for how long the account that Shiuna was using under the name "Nannazeev" was suspended by Twitter. Her Twitter account is believed to have been suspended for her tweet calling for bloodbath in violation of twitter's general standards.
In her tweet Shiuna said that some people had to come out very strongly to end the rule of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. She accused President Solih of "atrocities against Muslims" and said that "the government needed to be changed even at the price of bloodshed".
Soon after the tweet was deleted, Shiuna said in another tweet the same day that she deleted the first tweet because some people were "taking the wrong meaning of it".
"I'm sorry if anyone tookharsh meaning from the tweet," Shiuna tweeted in the afternoon.
Police says they are looking into the matter.
