Housing Development Corporation (HDC) on Sunday agreed to share with the police the feed of CCTV cameras installed in the Hiya flats developed in Hulhumale Phase 2.

The agreement was signed at a ceremony held at HDC on Sunday between:

  • Managing Director of HDC Ahmed Athif

  • Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed (on behalf of the police)

On the agreement, HDC said:

  • It was agreed to take necessary steps for feed connections to be shared with the police from the cameras installed inside and outside the 16 towers of the Hiyaa project

  • Efforts are underway to provide real-time feed to police

  • The move will give a lot of relief to efforts to create a safe environment at Hiyaa towers

In late 2021, when people started moving in to the Hiyaa flats, many complained that steps were not taken to ensure the safety of the residents there. The residents said crimes like robberies and looting were on the rise in the area and the public did not feel safe in their own homes.

HDC started installing cameras at Hiyaa towers late last year.
