Instead of the private company that is currently handling the security and maintenance of Hiyaa flats, HDC has announced to hire 136 employees to provide the services on its own.

In January last year, Vashi Private Limited was entrusted with the task of maintaining security for Hiyaa flats for a period of one year. Since the contract has expired, HDC plans to take it on its own.

HDC said in a statement that it has decided to hire security assistants and support staff as part of efforts to keep the Hiyaa area clean and improve security. Thus:

  • 88 employees to be hired as security assistants

  • 48 employees will be hired as support staff

  • A total of 136 employees' will be paid a monthly salary of MVR 10,500; totalling MVR 1.4 million per month

These employees will be hired on the open day to be organised by HDC on March 10:

  • The open day will be held from 4 pm to 6 pm at Phase II Kamil Didi School

  • During the event, candidates for these posts will be interviewed

"Anyone who wants to participate in the open day and apply for employment will have to carry a copy of their ID card, educational certificate and CV and appear for the interview," the HDC statement said.

"The aim is to make the Hiyaa flats a comfortable and safe environment and include the participation and feedback of the residents of the area in this endeavour."

HDC's deal with Vashi company expired in January. However, a short-term tentative agreement has been entered into until HDC takes care of the security of the hiyaa flats on its own.

HDC's public relations manager Ahmed Mimrah told Atoll Times that the deal will not be renewed again after the current deadline expires.

"The idea is to open up more jobs for those living in Hiyaa flats," he said.
