Mohamed Asir, missing since February 4 has now been found, according to Home Minister Imran Abdullah.
Asir, Gaskara/S. Maradhoo, 31, went missing from the night of February 4. Police said they had checked more than 150 hours of CCTV footage to trace him.
Home minister Imran Abdulla said on Thursday night that Asir has now been traced through the efforts of the police. He gave no further details.
A few hours ago, the minister had tweeted that he was thankful for the hard work put in by the police to trace Asir.
"Thank God. The police have located Asir a few hours ago," Imran said.
Confirming the discovery of Asir, the police said he was fine when he was found. No further details were given.
Police had earlier said that CCTV footage examined during the search for Asir showed that at around 7.20 pm on the day of his disappearance, he reached the airport in a white taxi from near Boduthakurufaanu Magu, Hulhumale Ferry Terminal.
In a statement, the police said that since there were no additional cameras in the area where Asir had entered the airport, the police did not know where he had gone. He also questioned the driver of the taxi he was travelling in to the airport, police said.
