
Guraidhoo MP Riza dies after cancer battle
Soon after Riza's death, MPs have been praying for him and offering condolences to the family.
Ibrahim Riza, MP for Guraidhoo constituency, passed away Thursday morning.
Riza has been battling cancer since last year. He passed away while in Malaysia for treatment.
The opposition PPM MP, who represents Guraidhoo, Gulhi and Maafushi in Kaafu Atoll, did not attend most of last year's parliament sittings due to his ill-health. He was mostly out of the country for treatment.
Soon after Riza's death, MPs have been praying for him and offering condolences to the family.
In a press release issued Thursday morning after Riza's death, PPM said he had rendered many valuable services till the last minute since the party's inception. The party also pointed out that Riza had worked extensively in the formation of the DRP and later PPM.
According to statement, Riza has rendered many services to the state, both as an MP and as a lawyer. His death is an irreparable loss for both the PPM coalition and opposition leader, former President Abdulla Yameen, the statement said.
