Parliament has delayed the resumption of sittings after recess to set up a new room for broadcasting its sessions.
After a six-month recess, the sessions of the parliament were scheduled to resume on Monday.
However, the parliamentary office sent a message to MPs on Sunday informing them that the sittings would not resume on Monday.
According to the message, the sessions will resume on Monday next week. The reason for Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla's decision is:

Every year, the sittings of the parliament are divided into three sessions. The second session ended on August 22.
According to the rules, the third session is scheduled to be held on Thursday or Monday. This is because the sittings of each session must start on the first Monday or Thursday of the month. The third term runs from October to November.
