Chief of Staff at the President's Office Ali Zahir said on Tuesday that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih can easily win the upcoming presidential election with the two parties that have decided to form a coalition to elect him for a second term.
The member from Adhaalath Party, which has already forged an alliance with the president for a second term, said in a tweet on Tuesday evening after the Jumhooree Party (JP), which is part of the ruling coalition, decided not to form an alliance with the president for a second term. The Jumhooree Party has decided to field its own candidate.
"MDP led by President Solih and the coalition comprising the Adhaalath Party and MDA will work together to win the 2023 presidential elections easily," Ali Zahir tweeted shortly after JP's decision.
