K-Park Mamdooh's passport seized in scam probe

Yunus Sobah said the police will soon issue a statement on the investigation.

The passport of minority shareholder Hassan Mamdooh, who is accused of selling flats at throwaway prices to customers of Hanbo Maldives, while working as a Maldivian agent in the ongoing K-Park flat construction project in Hulhumale, has been impounded.

Last week, a case was reported that Maldivian shareholder Mamdooh had fraudulently sold flats in K-Park at throwaway prices using Hanbo Maldives company. The company said in a statement on Tuesday that it has filed a police complaint seeking criminal investigation into the matter. Thus:

  • Hanbo Maldives has alleged that Mamdooh and another person took money from several people through a large scale fraud

  • This was done by forging the signature of Managing Director Jin Shi Hu, who holds 95% stake in the company, According to Hanbo

Police spokesman Yunus Sobah confirmed to Atoll Times that Mamdooh's passport has been seized following a court order during the investigation.

Yunus Sobah said the police will soon issue a statement on the investigation.

Hanbo Tech Korea, which claims to be the main company of the project, also issued a statement on Tuesday after Hanbo Maldives issued a statement against Mamdooh.

According to the statement issued by the main company, Hanbo Maldives is the company's Maldivian agent founded in 2017. Hanbo Maldives was established to assist Hanbo Tech Korea in managing, marketing and selling flats, the statement said.

Prior to this, in October 2016, Hanbo Tech Korea had signed an agreement with the then HDC to build the K-Park flats as a mixed-use residential complex in Hulhumale, the statement said.

The statement of the main company did not comment on the allegations made by Hanbo Maldives against Mamdooh. So far, there has been no word from Mamdooh on the matter, as he remained unavailable for comment and did not respond to calls.

Urbanco has also lodged a police complaint in this regard.
