Police on Thursday recovered a large quantity of drugs believed to have been smuggled and buried in the the sea near Filitheyo Island Resort in Faafu atoll.
Police said the operation was carried out based on a tip-off.
"F. atoll police conducted a search operation on Thursday and recovered a large quantity of items believed to be drugs," the police said in a message sent to the media group.
Police are yet to give provide details including the quantity and type of drugs. The police did not say if anyone has been arrested in connection with the case.
The police had earlier recovered a huge quantity of liquor stored in the sea.
