A Pakistani national has been arrested for arriving in the Maldives with heroin worth MVR 2 million.
2.12 kg of heroin was seized from a man who tried to enter Maldives on 24th of this month, Customs Head of Intelligence Mohamed Afzal said at a joint press conference with police.
Afzal said the man came to Maldives from Abu Dhabi. The street value of the heroin found in his possession is estimated at MVR 2.1 million.
Head of Traffic Investigation, Chief Inspector Ahmed Waheed said two Maldivians have been arrested in connection with the case. According to him:

Ahmed said the arrested persons have links to a Maldivian drug network operating abroad.
The three were remanded in custody for 15 days.
Police Drug Enforcement Head Nahid Hussain said 62 kg of drugs have been seized so far this year. These include alcohol and party drugs.
He said 116 foreigners have been deported for drug cases.
