3 kidnapped over drug dispute; busted after hospital visit

The people held hostage in a house in Male were kidnapped over a drug related conflict, and their hostage situation came to light when one of the injured was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Police on Saturday arrested a minor and another person in connection with the kidnapping of three people inside a house in Henveiru ward.
A reliable source with knowledge of the incident confirmed to Atoll Times that the act was committed by people with criminal records.
"They were taken hostage in a house where a drug cartel is believed to be running," a police source said, referring to drug spots in the city where drugs are served like beverages in cafes.
Atoll Times has ascertained that the three people were kidnapped in a drug-related case. However, it is not known exactly what the issue is.
"Police received the information after one of the hostages was injured and taken to hospital for treatment," the source said.
