Shahid to visit India on 3-day official visit
Both ministers will discuss on ongoing and future development projects in the Maldives and on strengthening the international cooperation.
Maldivian foreign minister Abdulla Shahid will undertake an official visit to India on Monday, the foreign ministry has said.
In a statement, the ministry said Shahid will be travelling to New Delhi from Sunday to Tuesday, at the invitation of his Indian counterpart Dr S Jaishankar.
According to the ministry, official talks will be held between the two foreign ministers, on all aspects of the traditionally close friendly relations between the Maldives and India.
Both ministers will discuss on ongoing and future development projects in the Maldives and on strengthening the international cooperation.
Shahid will also meet other high level officials of the government of India.
"Additionally, the visit will also signify the strengthening of Maldives-India partnership, as several Memorandums of Understanding are to be exchanged in the field of socioeconomic cooperation," the statement read.
During the visit, Minister Shahid will also be delivering the 43rd Sapru House Lecture (SHL) at the Indian Council for World Affairs and meet with a number of non-resident ambassadors accredited to the Maldives based in New Delhi.
