Maldives to experience monsoon rains for next 3 days
The Met Office has forecast continued heavy rains over the next three days
Maldives is currently experiencing the transition from the southwestern monsoon to the northeast monsoon.
The western monsoon, typically active from mid-May to November, is giving way to the northern monsoon, with a sunnier season expected between January and March. December and April often see transitional weather marked by rainfall.
According to the Maldives Meteorological Service, recent rainfall is attributed to a low-level circulation in the region. Rainfall has been reported in most parts of the country over the past 24 hours, with Hithadhoo recording the highest rainfall at 110 mm.
The Met Office has forecast continued heavy rains over the next three days and has urged the public to exercise caution.
