The government-run Raajje Transport Link (RTL) service to connect the entire country with a high-speed ferry system has been officially launched in Addu and Fuvahmulah.

MTCC, which provides RTL ferry services, on Friday announced the launch of services to Addu and Fuvahmulah and that the G.Dh. and G.A. atolls have been connected by a highway link.

  • From Friday, the new routes will be free for a week

  • During the free travel period, ferry reservations must be made through the island council

  • After that period, ferry-goers will have to use the RTL application to buy tickets

  • Fares will kick-in from August 25

  • Children under three years of age and people with special needs registered with NSPA will be able to travel free of charge

The RTL ferry service uses a spacious high speed ferry with a capacity of 50 passengers. The ferries are designed to accommodate wheelchairs and stretchers for people with special needs.

  • The new service will be available on two routes seven days a week

  • The ferry schedule can be found on the RTL application and website

RTL is currently offering their services in:

  • H.A. atoll

  • H.Dh. atoll

  • Sh. atoll

  • Lh. atoll

  • G.A. atoll

  • G.Dh. atoll

  • Fuvahmulah

  • Addu

By the end of this year, all the southern provinces will be connected by the RTL ferry system.

During his visit to Noonu atoll last week for the presidential election campaign, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih announced that the RTL ferry service would be started in the atoll soon.

MTCC aims to connect all parts of the country with the RTL ferry system by next year.
