MP Shiyan quits Democrats; re-joins MDP
Shiyan was among the 12 MPs who left the MDP and signed up for The Democrats last January.

Thoddu MP Hassan Shiyan has left The Democrats and re-joined the MDP on Friday.
MDP presidential candidate, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih received Shiyan's membership form.
After signing up for the MDP, Shiyan wrote on X that he decided to rejoin the party after changing his mindset in line with the views of many people in Thoddu constituency and across the country. He said the president will get the most votes in the constituency this time.
“President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will win this election in one round with a clear majority in Thoddu constituency,” he said.
Shiyan was among the 12 MPs who left the MDP and signed up for The Democrats last January.
Kulhudhuffushi North MP Yasir Abdul Latheef, who joined The Democrats along with Shiyan, also rejoined MDP this month. Along with Yasir, kulhudhuffushi council members have also returned to MDP.
