Members of the transitional committees that are currently visiting various government agencies to gather information will not necessary be appointed to political posts in the incoming government of Dr Mohamed Muizzu, his spokesman said on Saturday.

At his daily press briefing, a journalist asked about the appointment of members to the transitional committees. Noting some some committees had people with no education or experience in the respective fields, the journalist asked whether they would hold political positions in the Muizzu government.

In response to the question, Firzul said that it has not been decided that the president-elect will appoint the people representing the ministries in the interim committees.

"The point I am making is that people working in transitional committees will not necessarily go to ministries, institutions or political positions in that area. That has not been decided yet," he said.

Regarding the appointments to the transitional committees, Firzul said the committees have been formed with the view that each team will have the appropriate composition for the work to be done.

Looking at the work done by the committees so far, he believes that the work is progressing well and rapidly, he said.

Muizzu had formed 15 transitional committees, with each comprising 20-40 members.

The PPM-PNC has appointed interim chairman of the coalition Abdul Raheem Abdullah as the head of the transitional office.

When asked why a list of the committee members has not been released yet, Firzul had earlier said that the names have not been released yet because there are some changes in the names. A list of the names would be released soon, but it has not been released yet.
