National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) launched an investigation on Monday into reports that a group of Maldivians had gone to Palestine to participate in the war between Hamas militants in Gaza and Israel.

In a post on X, the NCTC is investigating the reports. The owner of the Facebook account has been identified and questioned, but the authenticity of the reports has not been determined, the centre added.
Israeli fighter jets struck 450 Hamas targets in Gaza and troops seized a militant compound in the past 24 hours, the Israel Defence Forces said on Monday, while the Palestinian enclave's health ministry said the air strikes killed dozens of people.
Health officials in Hamas-controlled Gaza said more than 9,770 Palestinians have been killed in the war, which began when Hamas killed 1,400 people and seized more than 240 hostages in a surprise attack on October 7.
