Mohammed Fahmy Hassan, who was appointed as the State Minister of Foreign Affairs on Monday, has been sacked just four days in to the job.
The President's Office confirmed to Atoll Times that Fahmy has been sacked amid criticism over the sexual assault allegations against him. However, no further details were given.
It is learned that Fahmy was sacked after being given the opportunity to resign.
The government has been criticised for appointing Fahmy as a state minister, who was previously accused of sexually assaulting a female employee.
Fahmy was removed from the post of chairman and member of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) for allegedly sexually assaulting a female employee.
However, his dismissal was later quashed by the Supreme Court.
Fahmy also served as the Deputy Ambassador to Malaysia during the government of former President Abdulla Yameen.
