Azim secures MDP mayoral ticket uncontested
The post of mayor of Male became vacant after Dr Mohamed Muizzu resigned on November 17 to be sworn in as the president of Maldives.

Former MTCC CEO Adam Azim has been given the MDP ticket for the by-election for Male mayor.
The MDP on Saturday announced that one candidate for each constituency has contested the vacancies in the Male City Council. Therefore, the party has decided to hand over the tickets to them without holding a primary.

Henveiru South Council Member - Hawa Nihala, H.Tharaboozuge/Male

Maafannu South Council Member - Ahmed Imran, M.Falhumatheege/Male
The post of mayor of Male became vacant after Dr Mohamed Muizzu resigned on November 17 to be sworn in as the president of Maldives. In addition to President Muizzu, three other members of the Male City Council have also resigned to take up government positions. They are:

Saif Fathih, councillor of the Galolhu North constituency of the Male City Council
Former Youth Minister Ahmed Mahuloof had earlier announced that he would contest the MDP primary. However, he did not contest.
