Nazim, Gasim spent most for pres campaign; MVR 6,000 per vote

The Election Commission (EC) has revealed that the Maldives National Party (MNP) leader Mohammed Nazim and the Jumhoory Party (JP) leader Gasim Ibrahim spent the most on their campaign in the recent presidential election.
According to the financial statements, the two candidates who spent the highest amount in both rounds of the presidential election; Nazim, who is also the MP from Dhangethi constituency, and Gasim, who is also the MP from Maamigili constituency, spent the following amounts:

Gasim - MVR 19.9 million

Nazim - MVR 13.1 million
Compared against each other based on vote proportion, Nazim is shown to have spent the most. Thus:

Nazim got 1,907 votes, which is MVR 6,857 per vote

The JP candidate received 5,460 votes, which is MVR 3,654 per vote
282,395 people were eligible to vote in the first round of the presidential election. 79.85% of the voters cast their ballots. That’s 225,486 people.
Presidential campaigns costed USD 45.9 billion
According to the financial statements submitted by the candidates, a total of eight candidates contested the first round of the presidential election.
