The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has announced the opening of applications for two vacant judge positions at the High Court.
The vacancies follow changes in the Supreme Court bench. Former High Court Chief Justice Hossain Shaheed was appointed to the Supreme Court after the resignation of Judge Husnu Suood in March last year. In addition, Mahaz Ali Zahir and Azmiralda Zahir were removed from their positions as Supreme Court judges.
Applications for the two High Court positions are open until 12:00 noon on Wednesday, according to the JSC.
The monthly remuneration for a High Court judge includes a basic salary of MVR 45,700, a living allowance of MVR 18,000, and a risk allowance of MVR 3,300.
Eligibility criteria for the post include:

A minimum age of 25 years

A first degree in Islamic Sharia or law

At least five years of experience as a judge, a lawyer, or a combination of both
