The northern harbour area of Malé has been opened for vessel registration, with new operational changes set to take effect from August 2025.

The port area, extending from the Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) zone to the crossroads near the local market in front of the fish market, was officially handed over to MPL by the Ministry of Transport on 4 June 2025.

According to a statement issued by MPL, the harbour will now be operated and maintained under the company's North Harbour division. Key operational changes include:

  • From 1 August 2025, services at the port will be limited to vessels registered under North Harbour.

  • Registration is now open for vessels currently unregistered at the facility.

  • From 1 September 2025, all services will be delivered in accordance with the North Harbour operating regulations.

MPL has stated that those seeking further information can contact the North Harbour Operations office directly.
