Inguraidhoo MP Hassan Ahmed on Sunday quit the main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and joined the ruling People's National Congress (PNC).
Hassan announced his change of party in a post on X with a photo of him handing over his membership form to President Mohamed Muizzu.
"From today onwards, I have decided to move forward with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu. I have said that I will be with the PNC with honesty and sincerity," Hassan said in the post.
Thirteen MPs have earlier signed up to PNC.

With the 14 MPs who signed up for the PNC, the total number of government MPs in parliament has risen to 18, while MDP's numbers have been reduced to 42 from 55.
