President Mohammed Muizzu said on Saturday that the youth who want to work in the islands will be provided with opportunities and that is the objective of the economic projects being expanded to the islands.
He was responding to a question from a member of the public upon the opportunity given to directly question the president on the concerns of the people.
Aishath Rauna Mohammed, Ufaa/Th.Kinbidhoo, asked the President during his current visit to the atoll whether he would be able to provide work opportunities for the youth who are completing their studies in other islands or abroad, and return to the islands after education.
In response, the President said, the atoll has limited employment opportunities and there is only one resort in the atoll. So, to create jobs, he must expand economic activities in the atoll.
The President said:
-
Employment opportunities will be expanded by establishing resorts, fisheries or a creative economy in the atoll
-
We are also trying to provide online job opportunities based on the skills of young people wherever they are; then it doesn't matter where you live
-
The whole purpose behind economic expansion in the atoll is to provide employment opportunities in the islands
“I would like to tell Rauna to keep hoping, and that I will produce results,” he said.
