Ex-tax commissioner Yazeed nominated for second stint
Yazeed and Hassan Zareer lost their previous positions in MIRA, following the amendment to the Taxation Act in September 2019 by the current 19th Parliament.

President Mohammed Muizzu has nominated Yazeed Mohammed, who served as Commissioner General of Taxation during former president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom's administration for his reappointment.
The post of the Chief Executive Officer of the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) became vacant following the resignation of Fathuhullah Jameel earlier last month. The President’s Office opened the nomination process on the 9th last month. The names have been sent to parliament for vetting.
The letter sent by President Muizzu was heard in the session held Wednesday.
According to the President's letter, the names of two eligible candidates have been sent to Parliament for approval. Besides Yazeed, Vaijeheyge/G.A.Villingili, the other is Hassan Zareer, who served as Deputy Commissioner in Yameen's government.
Of the two, Yazeed’s name was at the top of the order of priority for the appointment by the President.

Fathuhullah, who was appointed to the post in 2019, resigned to contest the upcoming parliamentary elections. He is contesting for the Thimarafushi seat on an MDP ticket.
