Outrage as child beaten, bullied inside Rasdhoo mosque

A child has been assaulted and bullied inside the toilet of a mosque in A.A.Rasdhoo.

A video that went viral on social media on Friday evening shows two boys assaulting a younger child during Taraweeh prayers. It has been reported that the victim is not a resident of Rasdhoo.

In the video, which is about two minutes long, the boy is seen being hit several times. He is beaten on the head and punched several times. The water bottle in his hand is grabbed and poured over his head too.

The fight entirely involved minors, both victim and perpetrator. The video shows that the boy is being threatened to keep something quiet, the attackers asking the boy several times to promise not to say anything.

The video shows the child fell to his knees at one point and begged his attackers to stop hitting him, crying out loud. His assailants were heard to be saying that Taraweeh prayer is over, motioning to exit, as the prayer sounds subside in the video and this is presumably the end of the extreme bullying session.

Police are investigating it as a serious incident.

As the heartbreaking video of the bully-session shocked the nation, many people gathered near the children's houses in the middle of the night in Rasdhoo.

Bullying remains common in schools and islands across the country.
